Are you looking for a label printer? With so many printer brands and models out there in the market, how can you choose the right label printer? If you don’t have a clear idea about this, this article may be helpful. Read on and see what you need to think about while choosing.

Before you move on, it is good for you to ask yourself how you'll be using a printer. This may be help you decide what type, print method, and other features you will expect. Now go through the factors below.

Things to Consider While Choosing A Label Printer

Types of Label Printers

Depending on how heavy of a print volume they can handle. These printers come in various forms: desktop printers, industrial printers, mobile printers, wristband printers and ticket printers.

Print Method

Thermal printers use 2 different printing ways - direct thermal (DT) and thermal transfer (TT). You can choose one of these two methods depending on how long you need the label to last and what material it's made of.

  • Direct thermal label printers utilize heat-sensitive media that blackens as it passes under the printhead.

  • Thermal transfer printers use a ribbon, similar to a fax machine, which is melted onto the label by the printhead.

Color v.s Black-white

If you just need to print common labels in black and white color, there is no need to get a color machine. A multi color label printer can make beautiful labels but they are much more expensive.
