Author:Jake | TIME:October 13,2017

Since many people asked me how to deal with the Samsung firmware issue upgrading firmware, I think this is not an individual case. So I think it is necessary to write this article to walk you through this awkward situation.

Actually, you may also come across the error “Firmware Upgrade Encountered an Issue. Please Select Recovery Mode in Kies” when you try to flash your Samsung mobile. And what’s worse is that when you try to reboot the device, it could be stuck in download mode and you would not be able to get the phone into recovery mode even if you try with Kies. The reason why you would fail to fix the issue with Kies because this service does not support all the mobile phones.

Performing a Factory reset can sometimes fix the problem, but it doesn't work for some cases and it would erase all your data on the device. If you have to do this, make sure you’ve backed up the device. Luckily, there are other solutions to help you solve the Samsung firmware update problem without using Samsung Kies. And we will show you how to do this in two ways.

Solution 1: Fix Samsung Firmware Update Issue with Odin

Solution 2: Fix Samsung Firmware Update Issue with cFone Android Data Recovery

Solution 1: Fix Samsung Firmware Update Issue with Odin

Odin (for Windows only currently) is a good choice for fixing Samsung mobile firmware problem. All you need is to have three tools: Odin 3, USB Driver and Stock Firmware for your phone.

1. Make sure Samsung Kies is not running in the background. You can shut it down in the task manager.
2. Make sure your Android phone has been fully charged.
3. It is suggested that you remove the SD card from your phone so as to prevent any errors or failures in the flashing process.

Step 1 Download and install the USB Drive, Odin and Stock Firmware for your phone on Windows PC.

Step 2 Put your Samsung phone into download mode: Press Volume Down, Power button and Home Button simultaneously for a few seconds; and when you see a warning, press Volume up button.

Step 3 Launch the Odin program and connect your Samsung to the computer via the USB cable that comes together.

Step 4 Once your Samsung is detected and recognized by the Odin, click on the "PDA" option (or "AP" in some Odin version) to start to load the firmware. Then choose the Stock Firmware for your phone you downloaded before.

Step 5 Make sure you’ve selected and checked the "Only Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" options both.

Step 6 Click on the "Start" button to start the process and make sure your phone is connected until the task is completed.
