How to Recover Deleted Photos from iPhone and iPad?

Solution 1: Retrieve Deleted Pictures from Recently Deleted Folder on iPhone

The most straightforward way to retrieve deleted pictures on your iPhone is find them in the Recently Deleted folder on your iPhone and then get them back. The deleted photos will be reserved if they were deleted no more than 30 days ago. You can follow the below steps:

1. Open Photos app on iPhone.

2. Go to Recently Deleted folder and you can see the deleted photos in the recent 30 days.

3. Now select those pictures you want to recover and tap "Recover > Recover Photo".


Note: Only photos that are deleted in the last 30 days can be saved on the Recently Deleted folder on iPhone. And for those that were older than 30 days, they are no longer there and can’t be recovered from this folder.



Solution 2: Recover Deleted Photos from iPhone Directly

If you don’t have backup, you should choose Recover from iOS Device. And then you will need to select or deselect the data type you want to scan and recover. Now you can select Photos only.

Step 3: Preview and Recover Lost Photos

After the scanning process finishes, you can see the scanned result with both existing and deleted data listed by categories. And then you can screen out the deleted data using the filter and choose the “Only display the deleted items” option. Now you can preview the photos and choose them selectively. After that, you just need to click the “Recover to Device” button to recover deleted images to your iPhone.

Solution Three: Restore Images from iTunes Backup Files

If you have backed up your photos via iTunes, then you can restore them back to your iPhone with ease. But for those photos that have not been backed up, they can’t be recovered because they are not included in the backup files. Besides, restoring backup to the iPhone will overwrite the existing files on your iPhone. But if you want it to be done in this way, you can follow below steps:

1. Open iTunes and connect your iPhone.

2. Click on iPhone icon and select Restore Backup... 

3. Select the backup file that contains photos you want, and click the button Restore. You can make sure the backup you select is what you want by checking the time.

Solution 4: Retrieve Deleted Photos from iCloud Backups

Before you can retrieve deleted photos from iCloud, you should make sure that you have enabled the iCloud backup in your iPhone. You can check that via: Settings > iCloud > Backup. Now follow below steps:

 

Step 1: Go to Settings → General → Reset → Erase All Content and Settings.

Step 2: Follow the instructions on the Setup screen until you get to "Apps & Data" and then select "Restore from iCloud Backup."

Step 3: Select the correct iCloud Backup and then start the restoring. Make sure your iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network during the restore process.
