We use Hotmailcom and Windows Live Hotmail email so often. However, many of us, as far as I am concerned, do not know how the Hotmail email works. As a matter of fact, only when we use the correct SMTP server settings can we send email through an email client - the Hotmail. SMTP servers are vital and necessary for any email service so that the program(we use to send emails) knows how to send the messages.
Therefore, you should make sure you're using the right Windows Live Hotmail POP3 settings if you want to receive email from your Windows Live Hotmail account.
The followings are the outgoing SMTP server settings for sending mail using Windows Live Hotmail from any email program, mobile device or another email service:
Hotmail SMTP Server: smtp.live.com
Hotmail SMTP User Name: Your complete Windows Live Hotmailcom email address (e.g. [email protected] or [email protected])
Hotmail SMTP Password: Your Windows Live Hotmail password
Hotmail SMTP Port: 587
Hotmail SMTP TLS/SSL Required: yes
Windows Live Hotmail was Microsoft's free web-based email service and it was designed to be accessed via the web, from any machine on the internet. It was first used by a few thousand beta testers in 2005 and then increased up to millions more by the end of 2006.
However, the Windows Live brand was discontinued in 2012 when Microsoft introduced Outlook.com, essentially rebranding Windows Live Hotmail with an updated user interface and improved features. Email addresses could remain as @hotmail.com but there was and is no longer a page dedicated to just Hotmailcom addresses.
Therefore, Outlook is now the official name of Microsoft's email service, formerly known as Hotmail and Windows Live Hotmail.
Still, you can sign up for a new Hotmail account without difficulty. You just need to go to the Microsoft Hotmail sign up page(https://signup.live.com/) and fill out the sign up form, agree to terms and policy and you can create a new Hotmailcom account.
